Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Surgery)

A surgical procedure to remove or reposition excess eyelid skin and fat to address heaviness, hooding or under-eye bags and improve eyelid contour.

Following consultation and photographs, we plan upper, lower or combined blepharoplasty. Upper lids typically involve precise skin (and sometimes muscle/fat) excision in the natural crease. Lower lids may use a transconjunctival (internal) approach to reposition/remove fat, with or without a small external skin/tightening procedure. Performed in an accredited setting under local anaesthetic with sedation or general anaesthesia, with written consent, itemised costs and structured aftercare.

Consultant-led planning, tissue-preserving technique

We assess brow position, eyelid laxity, skin quality, tear function and fat pads before choosing technique. Where needed, we discuss adjuncts such as ptosis repair or brow lift for root-cause correction. We prioritise natural contour, lid support and scar placement, stage when safer, and provide clear recovery timelines and follow-ups.

Clinical clarity from consult to aftercare

You receive an evidence-based plan, transparent quotation and care in accredited facilities. We explain risks, downtime and scar care in plain language, provide written aftercare, and schedule reviews. If surgery isn’t the right answer, we’ll advise alternatives or “not today”.

General questions

Candidates have symptomatic hooding, visual field interference or persistent “bags” not improved by skincare. Suitability depends on brow position, skin laxity, tear film and general health, confirmed at consultation.
Upper: a fine line hidden in the natural crease. Lower: often internal (no external scar) when fat is addressed; a short lash-line incision may be used for skin/tightening. We plan for discretion and provide scar-care guidance.
Bruising and swelling peak at 48–72 hours and settle over 1–2 weeks. Stitches (if used) are usually removed at 5–7 days. Many return to desk work in 7–10 days; refinement continues over 6–12 weeks.
General: bleeding, infection, scars, asymmetry, dry eye/irritation, temporary blurred vision. Specific: lid malposition (ectropion/lagophthalmos), hollowing, need for revision. Serious vision loss is very rare. Full consent is provided.
Blepharoplasty treats eyelid skin/fat. If eyebrow descent or eyelid muscle ptosis is present, we may recommend a brow lift or ptosis repair—sometimes staged—to address the underlying cause.
