Both are options. Immediate reconstruction is done during cancer surgery; delayed is performed after oncologic treatment. The decision depends on your diagnosis, radiotherapy plans and personal preference.
Implant-based (expander then implant or direct-to-implant), autologous tissue (e.g., DIEP/latissimus dorsi where suitable), fat grafting for contour, or staged combinations. We recommend based on anatomy, treatment history and goals.
Radiotherapy can impact skin and tissue quality, increasing complication risk—especially with implants. We may stage reconstruction, use autologous tissue, or plan revisions to improve outcomes.
Reconstruction restores shape and symmetry but not normal breast sensation or function. Some sensation may return over time; symmetry often requires staged tweaks or a balancing procedure on the other breast.
Many schemes fund medically indicated reconstruction and balancing procedures according to scheme rules and authorisation. We supply medical reports and quotations; final approval rests with your medical aid.
