Breast Reduction (Reduction Mammoplasty)

A surgical procedure that reduces breast volume and reshapes the breast to improve comfort, posture, and proportion, typically relieving symptoms like neck, back, and shoulder strain.

Following a surgical consultation and measurements, we plan tissue reduction and lift (mastopexy component) with careful nipple–areola repositioning to preserve blood supply and sensation where possible. The operation is performed in an accredited theatre with detailed consent, itemised costs, and structured aftercare. Scar patterns vary (vertical “lollipop” or inverted-T/anchor) depending on the degree of reduction.

Consultant-led planning, function and form in balance

We assess symptoms, skin elasticity, tissue distribution, and chest proportions to select a safe technique that prioritises relief of physical symptoms and stable shape. We plan scar placement, discuss sensation changes, and outline recovery timelines. You receive clear risks, costs, and a staged follow-up schedule; adjuncts (e.g., liposuction contouring) are considered when appropriate.

Clinical clarity from consult to aftercare

You receive an evidence-based plan, transparent quotation, and care in accredited facilities. We communicate expected symptom relief, scar patterns, and recovery in plain language. Our focus is safe surgery, proportional outcomes, and dependable follow-up. Where criteria apply, we can discuss medical aid pathways or documentation needs.

General questions

Ideal candidates have physical symptoms (neck/back/shoulder pain, rashes, bra-strap grooves), stable weight, and realistic goals. A consultation confirms suitability and medical history considerations.
Most reductions require a vertical (“lollipop”) or inverted-T/anchor pattern for safe tissue removal and reshaping. We plan for discretion and provide a scar-care programme once healed.
Many desk workers return in 10–14 days. A support bra is worn for ~6 weeks. Expect swelling and tightness initially; avoid heavy lifting and chest strain for about 6 weeks or as advised.
General: bleeding, infection, anaesthetic risks, scars, wound-healing issues. Specific: asymmetry, changes in nipple/areola sensation or position, fat necrosis, delayed healing at T-junctions, need for revision. We discuss these in consent and monitor closely.
Coverage varies and typically depends on clinical indications and scheme rules. We can provide medical reports and photographs where appropriate, but authorisation is determined by your medical aid.
