Facelift (Rhytidectomy)

A surgical procedure to lift and reposition lax facial tissues—tightening the SMAS layer and refining jawline, cheeks and lower face; often paired with neck lift when indicated.

After consultation, photos and examination, we plan the safest technique for your anatomy: SMAS plication/imbrication, deep-plane lift, mini/short-scar lift, and, where appropriate, neck lift with platysma work and submental contouring. Surgery is performed in an accredited theatre under sedation or general anaesthetic, with detailed consent, itemised costs and structured aftercare. Results evolve as swelling settles over weeks to months.

Consultant-led planning, harmony before tightness

We analyse skin quality, SMAS/platysma laxity, fat compartments and bone support, then select a conservative, tissue-respecting plan that prioritises natural vectors, nerve safety and scar placement. We stage adjuncts (fat grafting, eyelids, brow) when safer, and provide clear timelines, risks and follow-ups.

Clinical clarity from consult to aftercare

You receive an evidence-based plan, transparent quotation and care in accredited facilities. We map scars discreetly (around the ear/hairline), protect facial nerve branches, and support recovery with written aftercare and scheduled reviews. If surgery isn’t right, we discuss alternatives or “not today”.

General questions

It depends on tissue laxity and areas of concern. Mini lifts suit mild lower-face laxity; full/deep-plane approaches address deeper laxity and the neck more effectively. We recommend after examination.
If there is banding, jowls into the neck, or submental fullness, a combined facelift–neck lift with platysma work may provide better balance. We confirm this during planning.
Incisions are usually placed around the ear, sometimes into the temporal and post-auricular hairline, plus a small submental incision if the neck is treated. We plan for discretion and provide scar-care guidance.
Bruising/swelling peak at 48–72 hours and settle over 2–3 weeks. Many return to desk work in 10–14 days. Light walking from day one; avoid strenuous activity ~3–4 weeks or as advised. Refinement continues for several months.
General: bleeding, infection, scars, delayed healing (especially in smokers). Specific: temporary numbness, contour irregularity, skin loss (rare), haematoma, asymmetry, hairline changes, and temporary facial nerve weakness; revision may be required. Full consent is provided.
