Most patients require multiple sessions because laser treatment is most effective when hairs are in their active growth phase. The number of treatments needed depends on the area being treated, hair characteristics, skin type and individual response.
Laser hair removal is best described as long-term hair reduction rather than guaranteed permanent removal. Many patients experience a significant reduction in the amount and thickness of hair, although occasional maintenance treatments may be required.
Common treatment areas include the face, upper lip, chin, underarms, arms, chest, back, bikini area and legs. During your consultation, we can discuss the areas you would like treated and whether laser hair removal is appropriate for you.
Most patients experience a brief warming or snapping sensation as the laser energy is delivered. Comfort levels vary depending on the treatment area and individual sensitivity, and your practitioner will explain what to expect before beginning treatment.
You will generally be asked to shave the treatment area before your appointment while avoiding waxing, plucking or epilating beforehand, as the hair follicle needs to remain present for treatment. Your WM Aesthetics practitioner will provide specific preparation instructions.
