Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty)

A surgical procedure to remove excess lower-abdominal skin/fat and, when indicated, repair separated abdominal muscles (rectus diastasis) for a flatter, firmer contour.

After consultation, photos and measurements, we plan technique (full abdominoplasty with rectus repair; mini tuck for limited laxity; lipo-abdominoplasty when safe). Incisions are placed low on the bikini line with an around-the-navel cut if the belly button is moved. Performed in an accredited theatre, with detailed consent, itemised quotation and structured aftercare. Hernias are assessed and addressed or referred appropriately.

Consultant-led planning, function and form in balance

We assess skin quality, fat distribution, muscle separation, scars and hernia risk. Plans prioritise safe rectus plication, low discreet scars and venous-thromboembolism prevention. Where suitable, we combine conservative liposuction for definition. You receive written risks, recovery timelines and a follow-up schedule.

Clinical clarity from consult to aftercare

You get an evidence-based plan, transparent costs and care in accredited facilities. We use meticulous haemostasis, drain/quilting strategies where appropriate, clear scar-care guidance and scheduled reviews. If timing, health or goals aren’t aligned, we’ll advise “not today” or alternatives.

General questions

Best for stable weight, non-smokers (or able to stop), with excess skin after pregnancy/weight change or rectus separation. A consultation confirms medical suitability and goals.
A low horizontal scar placed to hide under underwear/swimwear; full tucks also have a small scar around the belly button. We plan for discretion and provide a scar-care programme.
If you have rectus diastasis, we typically perform a plication (muscle repair) during a full abdominoplasty to improve core support. Suitability is confirmed at examination.
Most desk workers return in ~10–14 days. You’ll walk slightly bent for a few days, wear compression for ~6 weeks, and avoid heavy lifting/ab work for ~6 weeks or as advised. Swelling improves over weeks to months.
Bleeding, infection, fluid collection (seroma), delayed healing, clots (DVT/PE), scars, asymmetry, numbness, contour irregularity and need for revision. We discuss risks in consent and monitor closely.
